The Eau Claire Ski Club was founded in 1886 after Norwegian immigrants introduced the sport to this area. This ski jump was built in 1969 to replace the club's original jump built in 1887. It stands 351 feet tall and is one of the largest jumps in the country.
In 1888, the club organized the nation's third ever ski jumping tournament. The annual Silver Mine Invitational Tournament has been held ever since.
