The Bill is a long-running, Bafta winning British television police procedural, named after a slang term for the police. It was first broadcast on 16 August 1983 as a pilot episode, and as a regular series from 16 October 1984. It is transmitted on ITV, at 20:00 on Thursdays and most Wednesdays. Older episodes from 2007 are broadcast regularly on Watch and episodes from 2000 on Alibi.
