On Wednesday 5th October 2022, Dale N3HXZ, a radio amateur from Pittsburgh, PA reached the summit of Apple Orchard Mountain and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 20 contacts in total working on the 40 and 20 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Apple Orchard Mountain is 1288 metres (4226 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
