On Thursday 25th August 2022, Mihaela YO5MCM/P and Iona YO5IA/P two radio amateurs from Romania reached the summit of Arpașul Mare and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

They made 18 contacts in total working on the 20 metre HF amateur radio band.

The summit of Arpașul Mare is 2468 metres (8097 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
