On Saturday 30th July 2022 Kevin AA7YQ a radio amateur from Livingston, MT reached the summit of Black Mountain and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 46 contacts in total working on the 20 metre HF amateur radio band.
The summit of Black Mountain is 3335 metres (10942 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA groups database.
