On Friday 12th April 2024, David HR2DDL, a radio amateur from Honduras reached the summit of Cerro El Pelón and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 6 contacts in total working on the 15m amateur radio band.
The summit of Cerro El Pelón is 2110 metres (6923 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
