On Monday 1st April 2024 at 07:40 UTC, Bruno HB9HDK, a radio amateur from Switzerland, made contact with Jarda OK1JHR/P, a radio amateur from the Czech Republic, who was operating from CHKO Šumava (OKFF-0013), on the 40m amateur radio band.
CHKO Šumava (OKFF-0013], is a Protected Area covering 171,925.2166 hectares lying to the south-west of Prague in the south-west of the Czech Republic on the German border. Part of the area was first designated in 2005 with the last announcement in 2016. Šumava is a Site of Community Importance under the EU's Habitats Directive and is part of the Natura 2000 network.
Natura 2000 aims to protect many of Europe's most vulnerable and threatened habitats and species.
