The statement on the signs in the eastern and western entrances of downtown Redwood City, CA seems to be an urban legend according to some sources.
The signage was erected after a contest sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Real Estate Board in Redwood City, California in 1925.
Coincidentally, a Tesla was just passing by the sign at this entrance when the Google car shot the frame.
