Depresiunea și Munții Giurgeului (YOFF-0124)

On Sunday 31st March 2024 at 16:35 UTC, Milan S58MU, a radio amateur from Slovenia, made contact with Zsolt YO/HA8FY/P, a radio amateur from Hungary, who was operating from Depresiunea și Munții Giurgeului (YOFF-0124), on the 30m amateur radio band.

Depresiunea și Munții Giurgeului (YOFF-0124), is a protected area of 87,866 hectares located in central Romania to the west of Gheorgheni. It was designated in 2007 as a Special Protection Area under the EU's Birds Directive and is part of the Natura 2000 network.

The Natura 2000 network aims to protect many of Europe's most vulnerable and threatened habitats and species.
