On Friday 17th November 2023, Jose EA7GV, a radio amateur from Granada, Spain reached the summit of Empanada and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 22 contacts in total working on the 40m, 30m and 17m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Empanada is 2105 metres (6906 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
