On Friday 9th June 2023, Jean-Louis F1GBD/P, a radio amateur from the Seine-et-Marne Department in north-central France, who was holidaying in the Vosges Massif. He set up a satellite dish on the summit of Gazon de Faite and activated this summit for the Global Mountain Activity (GMA) group.

Jean-Louis made 18 contacts via the Qatar-OSCAR 100 satellite transponder including with Tom DJ6OI from Uslar, Germany at 11:22 UTC.

The transponder has an uplink on 2.4GHz and a downlink on 100GHz and was a joint project between the Qatar Satellite Company, Qatar ARS and AMSAT (Deutschland). It is on board the Es-hail-2 satellite which was launched in 2018. The satellite is in geo-stationary orbit above the equator at 26 degrees East.

The Gazon de Faîte is a summit in the Vosges Massif. It is located on the ridge line between the Col de la Schlucht and the Col du Bonhomme. The summit of Gazon de Faîte is 1303m (4275 feet) asl.
