On Wednesday 7th September 2022, Peter TF/HB9RYV/P, a radio amateur from Switzerland reached the summit of Hekla and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 9 contacts in total working on the 20 metre HF amateur radio band.
The summit of Hekla is 1485 metres (4872 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
