On Saturday 23rd March 2024 at 12:01 UTC, Lacy YO6CFB, a radio amateur from Romania made contact with Jorn OZ4ABH/P, a radio amateur from Denmark who was operating from Idom Aa (Idom Å) (OZFF-0050) on the 20m amateur radio band. Jorn made a total of 134 contacts while he was in the reserve.
Idom Aa (Idom Å) (OZFF-0050), is a protected area of 499 hectares located in the west of Denmark to the west of the city of Aarhus. It was protected by a Conservation Order in 1985 and is an IUCN Management Category IV area.
An IUCN Management Category IV area is an area to protect particular species or habitats and are managed to prioritise this objective.
This reserve along a 15km section of the Idom Å is intended to protect the original fauna and flora along one of the few rivers in Denmark which follows its natural course.
