On Sunday 9th October 2022, JR8MHA/7, a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Iwatesan and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 10 contacts in total working on the 40 metre HF amateur radio band.
The summit of Iwatesan is 2038 metres (6686 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
Iwatesan is in the Iwate Prefecture on Honshu Island.
