Award-winning exhibits on the state's colorful past fill the spacious main gallery at the Kansas Museum of History in Topeka. The story of Kansas and the West is told through displays that have won national and local awards for their attractive, innovative features. On display are a Full-sized Cheyenne tipi, a fully stocked covered wagon ready for a trip on the Oregon Trail, a 1950s diner, and a locomotive and two cars made in 1880 for the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad.
