This is a small park on the north side of Lenin Street near the Khoron State University in the city of Khorugh.
The park is dominated by a bronze statue of Ismail Somoni who is widely considered to be the father of the Tajik Nation. This large monument is flanked on both side by busts of prominent Tajik leaders.
The park is much in keeping with those from the Soviet era, with paved walkways, fountains, and well-maintained flower beds.
To the north of the park and behind the Somoni statue are Government administration buildings which are in turn are dwarfed by the mountains behind.
The park offers a peaceful place in which to contemplate and forget the troubles of the modern world.
