Statue of Ismail Somoni (StreetView)
This statue of Ismail Somoni (Abu Ibrahim Isma’il ibn Ahmadj) who was a Samanid emir in the 9th century who consolidated administrative power in the region which today constitutes the Republic of Tajikistan.

The bronze figure of Somoni is on top of a tall granite plinth and shows him wearing flowing Persian robes, a crown and his right hand he is carrying a sceptre.

He is today widely considered to be the father of the Tajik Nation.
