On Wednesday 15th May 2024, JFHKQ/6 a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Kunimidake and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 29 contacts in total working on the 2m, 40m, 30m, 20m and 10m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Kunimidake is 1739 metres (5705 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
Kunimidake is in Miyazaki Prefecture on Kyushu-Okinawa Island.
