Wild horses were once found widely across the open areas of northern Eurasia. These wild horses were generally short than their descendants which were domesticate as happen in Kyrgyzstan.
The Kyrgyz Horse (Kirgiz Horse) was domesticated by the nomads of the area now known as Kyrgyzstan and was used for multiple purposes including riding and for food. By the late 19th century, it is estimated that there were c2 million Kyrgyz Horses.
