Laxey Station is a light railway or tramway (streetcar) interchange for the Manx Electric Railway (M.E.R.) and the Snaefell Mountain Railway. In common with most tramways from Britain’s past there are no raised platforms and passengers alight from ground level.

The M.E.R station is 7.10 miles from Derby Castle - Douglas, the southern terminus, and 10.68 miles from Ramsey, the northern terminus, and is located at Pole Number 359.

The Snaefell Mountain Railway runs for 5 miles to the summit of Snaefell and operates on a track which has a 3 ft 6 in gauge to accommodate the third (central) rail which provides braking on the steep gradients.

The station has a small booking office which is shared by both railways, a cafe and toilets.
