King Orry's Grave

King Orry's Grave (StreetView)
King Orry's Grave is the largest known Megalithic tomb on the Isle of Man. It is in the garden of a private cottage at Minorca in Laxey.

The grave of coloured sandstone stones has a forecourt of 12 metres across and 4 metres deep. It contains three chambers which were once filled with burials, however when excavated only one burial and bowl survived.

King Orry also known as King Godred of Crovan is a well-known Manx legend. He gained control of the Isle of Man in 1079 after the Battle of Skyhill. He is honoured by many monuments named after him, but there is no link between these prehistoric remains and the historical figure.
