On Saturday 23rd March 2024 at 16:06 UTC, Zdenko 9A4FM, a radio amateur from Croatia made contact with Vicente EA2EZ/P, a radio amateur from Spain who was operating from LIC Los Valles (EAFF-0879) on the 15m amateur radio band. Vicente made 276 contacts in total while he was in the reserve.
LIC Los Valles (EAFF-0879), is a protected area of 22,913 hectares located adjacent to the Parque Natural Valles Occidentales, which is at the north-western end of the Aragonese Mountain range in northern Spain. It was designated as a Special Area of Conservation (Habitats Directive) in 2010 and is part of the Natura 2000 Network.
Natura 2000 aims to protect many of Europe's most vulnerable and threatened habitats and species.
