On Saturday 24th December 2022, Erich EA8/HB9FIH, a radio amateur from Switzerland reached the summit of Malpaso and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 40 contacts in total working on the 20, 17, 12 and 10 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Malpaso is 1501 metres (4928 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
