On Thursday 13th October 2022, Doug PY1II, a radio amateur from Brazil reached the summit of Morro do Açu and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 13 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF and the 40. 15 and 10 amateur radio bands.
The summit of Morro do Açu is 2216 metres (7270 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
