On Thursday 21st March 2024 at 16:11 UTC, Lothar DL3HXX a radio amateur from Germany made contact with Frank DL/F4JYM/P, a radio amateur from France, who was operating from the National Park Bavarian Forest (DLFF-0001) on the 40m amateur radio band.
National Park Bavarian Forest (DLFF-0001), is a protected area of 24,206 hectares lying east of Regensburg on the German-Czech border. It was designated as a Special Protection Area (Birds Directive) in 2001 and is part of the Natura 2000 network.
The Natura 2000 network aims to protect many of Europe's most vulnerable and threatened habitats and species.
