Built in the 15th century, the Berlin City Palace was the residence of the Kings of Prussia and the German Emperors from 1702 to 1918. Due to heavy damage in World War II, it was demolished in 1950.

The new palace will be called Humboldt-Forum and is expected to be finished in 2019. Anticipated construction costs of at least €600 million.
