Our Lady, Star of the Sea and St. Maughold in Ramsey was built between 1909 and 1910 to the designs of Giles Gilbert Scott.
This church is regard as one of the finest of Scott’s church. In this church Scott limited the internal decoration to small areas which have intense colour and detail.
Scott received the Royal Institute of British Architects Royal Gold Medal for Architecture in 1925. The Gold Medal is award on behalf to the Crown in recognition of Scott’s work major contribution to international architecture. The Gold Medal is given for a body of work rather than in recognition of the excellence of a single building.
