On Saturday 1st April 2023, Marcio PY2TTN, a radio amateur from Brazil reached the summit of Pico dos Marins and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 49 contacts in total working on the 40, 20. 15 and 10 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Pico dos Marins is 2421 metres (7943 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
