On Friday 12th May 2023, Gamboa PU1MGP, a radio amateur from the Galeão district of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil reached the summit of Pico dos Três Estados and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
Unfortunately, Gamboa’s efforts in making the activation resulted only in a single contact on the 2 metre VHF amateur radio band with another Brazilian radio amateur PU1TEA.
The summit of Pico dos Três Estados is 2665 metres (8743 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
