QEHB opened in June 2010 and was Birmingham’s first new acute hospital to be built in over 70 years. At the time the QEHB represented a £540 million investment in the health services not just of Birmingham but also the West Midlands.

The QEHB which brought together the service from several former hospitals in Birmingham has much improve patient care.

QEHB is one of the hospitals operating under the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. It is located close to the University of Birmingham’s Medical School and benefits greatly from its close links with medical research at the university.
