Rainbow Theatre - venue of legends

Rainbow Theatre - venue of legends (StreetView)
Originally named the Astoria Theatre, the structure was built in 1930 as a theatre. In the 1960's one-night concerts were held with artists like Jimi Hendrix lighting his guitar on fire and the Beach Boys recording "Live in London". In the 70's the list of performers included The Who, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Eric Clapton, Kool & the Gang, the Ramones, Bob Marley & the Wailers.

In the early the 80's the venue became an unlicensed boxing venue with bare knuckle fighters like Lenny McLean and Roy Shaw fighting.

In 1995 the building was taken over by a Pentecostal church.
