On Saturday 16th July 2022 a radio amateur, who was a member of the SOTA BW group, using the special callsign DL20SOTA, reached the summit of Schneofhalde and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group. The special callsign “DL20SOTA” was being used to mark the occasion of the 20th anniversary of SOTA BW group.
They made 51 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF and the 40 and 20 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Schnepfhalde is 1299 metres (4032 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA groups database.
