On Saturday 25th June 2022 Douglas PY1II/P a radio amateur from Petrópolis, RJ reached the summit of Serra Negra and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
Douglas made 11 contacts in total working on 15 and 40 metres amateur radio bands.
The summit of Serra Negra is 1546 metres (5072 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA groups data base.
