This pumping station dates from the early 1890’s and was originally steam powered. Its purpose was to supply freshwater to Snarestone and the surrounding area.

It was built by Hinckley Urban District Council on a site where there was a pre-existing coal mining shaft. Later the pumping station was taken over by Leicester City Council who converted it to electrically operation.

The building has now been converted for residential use and is a Grade II Listed Building.
