St. George’s is the parish church of Mayfair in the Church of England was built in the mid-1720's
Hanover Square was constructed between 1716 and 1720 to accommodate the mobility and the gentry who were moving out from business heart of London to the west. The square was named for the new Hanoverian dynasty which had commenced with the succession of King George I.
This church was among fifty new churches built in following an Act of Parliament passed in 1711 and intended to meet the demands of the ever-growing population.
The church which cost £10, 000 to construct and was dedicated on 23 Mach 1721.
