The Old Bailey is the name given to the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales. The name Old Bailey comes from the name of the street on which it is located. The Crown Court that sits at the Old Bailey deals with major criminal cases arising within Greater London and, in some exceptional cases, from other regions of England and Wales. Trials at the Old Bailey, are accessible by the public, but are subject to stringent security checks.
