The Yyldz Hotel

The Yyldz Hotel is a luxury hotel in the city centre of the Turkmenistan capital, Ashgabat.

All the rooms offer air conditioning, a mini-bar and refrigerator. Services at the hotel include free high-speed internet (Wi-Fi), fitness centre with Gym and Workout Room, Pool, Tennis Court and Sa Yldy Restoran.

The author of ‘The Stans By’, Ged Gillmore dines at Sa Yyldy Restoran, at the Yydyz Hotel, with Karin one of his fellow travellers.

Sa Yyldy Restoran is on the 18th floor of the Hotel and it is claimed to be the most expensive restaurant in Turkmenistan. Ged however finds the panoramic view disappointing as it overlooks a part of the city that is barely lit at night.

The menu at Sa Yyldy Restoran on the night on which Ged and Karin visit includes exotic choices including bear, emu and crocodile.
