On Saturday 12th August 2023, Katsu JR8MHA/8, a radio amateur from Japan, reached the summit of Tokachiporoshiridake and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 13 contacts in total working on the 20m and 15m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Tokachiporoshiridake is 1846 metres (6056 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
The summit of Tokachiporoshiridake is in the Tokachi Prefecture on Hokaido Island.
