On Saturday 5th August 2023*, David W0ADV, a radio amateur from Longmont, CO reached the summit of Tower Mountain and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 10 contacts in total working on the 2m and 20m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Tower Mountain is 4131 metres (13553 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
• David was spotted at 17:21 UTC on Saturday 5th August 2023, on the 20m amateur radio band, while on the summit of Tower Mountain. When David logged the activation later, he mistakenly entered the date as 5th February 2023.
