On Sunday 7th August 2022 JE1VUJ/0 and JI1AVM/0 two radio amateurs from Japan reached the summit of Tsubakurodake and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 35 contacts in total working on the 2 metre, 70 cm and the 20 and 15 metre HF amateur radio bands.
The summit of Tsubakurodake is 2763 metres (9065 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
