Twin 240mm Mle 1893-96 armored turret

With the development of Dakar as a major port and naval base, a reassessment of the defensive requirements of the whole area, including Gorée Island, was made and between 1900 and 1914 new works were put in hand. An armoured turret with modern twin 240mm Mle 1893-96 guns was emplaced on Bastion 3 of the fort on Le Castel.
