P.S. wouldn't it've made sense to mention he owned this house when he played with the New Jersey Devils? That's the only reason why he lived in Jersey.
As a Mets fan, it was interesting seeing the new Taxpayer Field go up behind Left Field of Shea Stadium. With Shea being open from left to center to right field, construction was clearly visible on TV.
I wonder how long before there's new satellite imagery for this location. There's no sign of Citi Field in these images yet it's been completed for a year now and before that it was under construction for at least two years.
When scanning the landscape of Alger, this building really stands out... I wouldn't be surprised if when it was opened they had some grand opening to celebrate this magnifique feat of architecture.

Listed airstrips, landing fields, etc, are sometimes no longer in aviation use (even though an active record still exists.) Concering Ultraflyte, I can't find anything casually or officially said about them in a web search and no business listing of any kind . . . but the coordinates for their field look to be correct to me. Their runway is described only as NE/SW and there's a faint outline of what that could be plus the length is just about right and it's located off of Ultra Flyte Drive. ...
Qwest is the Seahawks' field and Safeco is the Mariners field. Both corporate. Safeco (the name) has lastest a surprisingly long time now! If there was an agreement to change it tomorrow I totally wouldn't be surprised. And if Qwest is a communications company, that's likely to change in the future, also, and then everything will have to be changed, new name, new signs, new etc.
How many name changes did the Kingdome go through?
Apparently, The Sandcastle was its original name (since 1998) and was the official name up until very recently (this past summer '06.) Most locals most certainly will hold onto the respectable, non-corporate Sandcastle name. It's good that it has that nickname because God knows how many new names this stadium will suffer through in this new era of ever-changing naming rights for American sports and music venues.
I vaguely remember climbing up in Lucy when I was a kid. They had some sort of museum inside, filled with all sorts of odd sea stuff. I'm glad to see she's still standing! Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Margate town council decided she had to leave because the area needed a new Starbucks or Wal-mart. It's a disposable America, even for 124 year old elephants.
The celebrity-obsessed aspect of American culture is terribly deplorable . . . so sadly, in America, with the exception of true travelers who've been to that region of Italia, this castle will only be known for a very short while *only* for the wedding (show.) (And tomorrow in La$ Vega$ you can probably place your bets on when the divorce will be!)
I don't know if the small number amounts to enough to add a new category for Events > Funerals (if it does then here's a vote for a Marinas category which aren't always harbors!) . . . or perhaps Search Results should include comments, too, that way this one would show up . . . plus many other searches might be affected for the better.
I've seen many a Dead show here . . . was just gonna comment on the new name. I wonder how long it'll have *this* name and what the next name will be. [sigh]
Whenever you have an N Number and you wanna look up what kind of plane it is, what year, and who the owner is, all you've gotta do is type into a search engine -- N Number database
Funny . . . one can't just as easily just go type in someone's vehicle license plate # and find out who owns the car and where they live, why no privacy with aircraft?!
I was only away from the site for 2½ months but Thanks! :) A bunch of the maps I put up might be a little bland but I love this stuff & couldn't stay away!!
I don't like almost every corporate name. Some aren't bad like United Center in Chicago and the Delta Center in Salt Lake City. Some, if they'd leave out a word or two, wouldn't be too terrible such as if Arrowhead Credit Union Park in San Bernardino was just Arrowhead Park or Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey was just Continental Arena or Lincoln Financial Field was just Lincoln Field in Philly. Question: How many sports or music venues named in the 1920's, 30's...
Heya. Once again, since you didn't know the name, you could also have originally, upon submission, categorized this under Events-Info Requested. Sometimes venues like this are not commonly called stadiums but just a "field" and usually related to a "school" in the town name "Cloudcroft" and in addition I used one of the nearby roads "Cox Canyon" but then what I came up with pointed me to use instead "Lost Lodge" and...
Hey, I gotta friendly suggestion for ya! Pretty much any stadium/football field or official-looking racetrack in America has a name and that name is 99.9999% most likely on the internet somewhere. It might take 2 minutes, maybe ten, might take 40 minutes of semi-frustrating digging around, but it's somehow always findable with a little work.
But if you can't find the name then submit the map also under Events-Info Requested. Perhaps someone'll come along and click to that...
This underground facility, home of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD, was built to withstand a nuclear attack and will soon be mostly inactive. Most of the operations and personnel based here will be moving to nearby Peterson Air Force Base. There will be support personnel working at Cheyenne to keep the base maintained as a backup should the need ever arise to bring it online as a secure place of operations.
here are three very good more info links, one of...
How long is that one with the marked helipcopter pad on the deck, the one that's in a Citgo TV commercial, it was mapped here a second time recently... big sucker might be as big as this one or maybe bigger. Check it out.

You can probably get rid of Land > Designs.
This is definitely an RCAF WWII era military airfield... whatever category that is, go ahead and file it under that.
This field served the nearby RCAF Station Brantford's No. 5 Service Flying Training School which was located at what is now the Brantford Municipal Airport...
On the flip side, sometimes worldstadiums is all there is to go by for info on the internet in English. Their pictures have helped me identify a few in Senegal and Algeria and I suspect I'll have more luck in the future with them as my primary source for identifying a stadium. Perhaps they are a decent More Info link sometimes, but other times there's something much more official and informative out there.
Well, we know with Saddam Hussein recently, his weapons production was also crude. We also know he used WMD on his very own citizens in the past and old munitions will probably still turn up in the future. We also also know sanctions against Iraq did little to Hussein's bank account. He was in cahoots with Russia & France and others, able to pile up loads of money and do what he wanted with it. Had there never been inspectors into Iraq, Hussein would almost undoubtedly have the stockpile...
So wait, these are dumped here like your old dead car gets dumped in a junkyard?
I was thinking all these grounded ships (not just in this map but all the singular ship maps) are legitimate shipwrecks... not all are? Some might be, no?
That's amazing. How many are there around all of France? How many are there are on America's West Coast, Gulf Coast, and East Coast combined? 1? All the way up in Alaska when a ship runs aground, there are outfits doing everything they can to salvage as much of the ship as possible and then getting it so it can be towed so it doesn't sit out there like along coasts of Africa.
This map militarily served our nation for 51 years. One thing I'll note: Bergstrom Air Force Base was Air Force One's primarily home in Texas during Lyndon Johnson's time as President (he was from the Lone Star State for anyone who doesn't know. The Bushes weren't the first cowboy presidents.)
Wow, that looks more than grounded... looks like it's being swallowed by the earth and in a few years, a dozen or two?, it'll be covered by sand so completely you might walk or drive across it and never know you passed over it below you.
I don't know why but these are some of my favorite maps!
Unless there's one or two identical, I just saw this ship on a TV commercial for Citgo. Showed the helipad clear as day and i was like, whoa, i just saw that earlier!
P.S. The More Info link is wrong, it's for a city with a population of 7,300,000 people!
How did I miss that?! Could the imagery have been updated in the past 2-3 weeks? When I was working over Alger/Algiers/El-Jazair, I swear that wasn't there!
The rounded green areas football (soccer) doesn't have plus it's only the length of a basketball court which is wicked small compared to a football pitch and that's most likely a hard surface close to concrete. Maybe it's some sort of soccer played on a hard surface that size?
dda, Unless it's a sports news channel, i certainly don't agree that 45 minutes should have been spent talking about one football win without getting to other matters of human importance. There've been times when I've wondered just what the heck is the importance of sports? More than giving kids a shot at a good life, it gives some people a little relief from matters in their own lives that may be giving them stress... the same way theatre does for some, or reading, or art, or making...
That's quite true. If I remember correctly, westward from here, towards the big stadium and sports complex, there are several visible inground swimming pools... I've seen almost all of Algiers, plus eastward over to the nearby peninsula, and this area here is the only one in the whole city, of I don't know how many millions of people, to have swimming pools. The homes aren't all as big as this one but to have a nice pool in the backyard, that's still luxurious... to even have a yard is in...
Okay, I prefer the stadium category but I see your point, although this could fit into both categories -- Writing & Soccer (football.)
But you know what stadiums often mean? They often mean professional sports. Children often look up to famous athletes and want to be like them. Children often make it to big rounded buildings with grass coming from slums and poor families, coming from a place with little hope for a better life. They work hard throughout their lives to become...
Good work, dda! I wasn't even 100% sure it was Tamentfoust. The map I was using wasn't specifically the Alger area, not even Northern Algeria... it was a somewhat non-specific map that you can zoom out and see half of Earth at a time! Unfortunately, unlike for America, detailed maps, and information in English, for certain countries are very difficult to find on the internet. (For example, I just found what looks like Algiers' only golf course. For America to find the name of it would be...
Wow. La Pérouse? That wasn't even on the map I was using and I had no other to go by. I could have sworn it's Tamentfoust. It's an interesting looking area, along with much of Algiers. After a week or so of slowly working over much of the landscape, I'm almost making plans for a couple weeks long exploration of the land.
Where it is parked looks like a terminal building... I was leaning towards passenger ship of some sort but since I haven't submitted ships, I hadn't thought of ferry. Sounds good to me!
"Stade Moulay Abdellah is a multi-use stadium in Rabat, Morocco. It is currently used mostly for football matches and it can also stage athletics. The stadium holds 60,000. It was built in 1983." (wikipedia)

I don't think he's about to jump. I mean, did you read about it in the news -- "Giant ape jumps onto highway, 12 killed, dog catcher's net too small for capture"? Nooo, i just think he's trying to show people how mean he can look.
