Well, there isn't the tilde in the English language so can't have España. But why is Nederland converted to Netherlands? Italia is Italy? These things make no sense to me.
I know, I know, but to 99.999999% of us Yanks, that's a soccer ball! When football's the most popular game in the world, why do we have our own version that's completely different yet called the same name?! We should have called our football soccer and kept football football so it would be the same around the world. Perplexing. And will the U.S. ever make the Round of 16?!? We have some great (American) football teams here... but a lousy national football (soccer) team.

Any true New Yorker knows there is no legitimate reason to venture west of the Hudson. Equally true, there's hardly reason to travel to Brooklyn and beyond.
Well, when was the satellite imagery taken? That i do not know.
If the Google imagery is from this year, then I'll believe it's a primitive site.
But, hypothetically, even if the imagery is one year old, couldn't they have done a lot of work to seriously build up the site in the past one year?
Just wondering. Afterall, North Korea is a nation that doesn't let its people leave. A nation that throws a citizen in prison if they're caught in China...
I spent so much time combing over Saskatoon, I feel like I once lived there! I didn't get everywhere, though. So whatever's left is for you and others... Happy Virtual Globetrotting!
You've mentioned the primitive state of the launch facility twice now... is this description based on 6 year old information (fas.org) or information from recent news reports?
Thanks... it is my goal to win a Pulitzer for Best Satellite Imagery Commenting... the committee has yet to hear my plea for the addition of that category. I just don't understand why. Is there truly any other writing more important? Seriously... is there? I think not!
One thing I find fascinating about these subs is you can freely walk up to them. Don't know if you can just climb inside but if it was a sunny day you could probably lay a towel and sunbathe all day long on top a Russian submarine and no one would bother you. So many subs are just dockside and rusting. Perfectly usable subs idle because of no money for upkeep.
Herbert Island is uninhabited and one of the Islands of Four Mountains. The Herbert Volcano rises 4,232 feet (1290 m). It is unknown when the last major activity was. Like with so many others nearby, no geologic studies have been done on this volcano.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's one of the worst, too. There used to be a lot of farmland outside of Philly. Within 90 miles of downtown something like 95% of all the farmland that existed 50 years ago has now been developed.
In a hundred years America's going to be like this scene above, pretty much coast to coast. Why leave ranchland intact? Farms? Forests? Who needs 'em?! Tear down every tree, bulldoze every acre, develop, develop, develop.
Using the word "Ranch" here doesn't mean anything is ranched like cattle are. And yes, those are all classic cadillacs. Gas prices have nothing to do with this location unless you want to travel there by motorized vehicle then it'll probably cost you more. And no, Cadillac doesn't only make 10 cars a year now... Lamborghini is much closer to that Cadillac will ever be.
Here's a More Info link you can add for the Cadillac Ranch:

In doing a little research on The Gambia back when I submitted a few maps for the nation, I found info on the Lodge. It definitely looks like an interesting place to visit! Too bad most of Africa is low-resolution otherwise the lodge might be visible.
Ummm... I count 5 ships in the thumbnail but there's only mention here of 1 of them unless all 5 ships make up the USS Iowa but then again that's silly and I know it's not true... so it appears there's some missing information here. What about a More Info link? Is there no web page in existence for the Iowa?
If you changed the category Movie Locations to Movie/TV Locations, it could be applied for this map.
The popular Don Johnson show Nash Bridges was partially filmed here. I don't know what kind of studios were on the island for production of the show but I do know that Nash's interior house scenes were filmed on Treasure Island. Visible through his windows is the San Francisco skyline looking pretty up close and personal. A million dollar view for a SF detective... that's...
It could also be noted that this is the home field of the Louisville Bats, formerly the RiverBats, (as of 2006) the AAA minor league affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
And HOORAY, a corporate name on a sports venue that ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE!!!!!!!
And within 5 miles in a direct line (almost like a debris field?) to the South-Southeast there appears to be two more visible pieces, one very tiny, maybe the size of a city bus, and the other a few hundred feet long.
If anyone would like to pay for an expedition to investigate this, I'm ready to leave immediately.

I'm sure almost every single person who clicks this page has seen the park at least 100 times. (One very easy way is just watch the first minute of the John Stamos SMASH hit show Full House.)
It's also a hostel, very unique and much recommended. Not many people ever get a chance to actually stay at a lighthouse but at Pigeon Point you can do just that! http://www.norcalhostels.org/pigeon/
This area was once major sand dunes, so much so that a film company once shot desert scenes at 36th & Ortega!
I lived not too far from this map, about a dozen blocks east on Judah St. which is Inner Sunset. As much as I despise suburban sprawl, oddly i can dig living in a city like SF or NYC... well, I don't know if I would like living in a city like that now but i'm surely at home when visiting.
I have it on good authority that this is indeed the Grateful Dead on 8/28/67, a little gathering on a Monday at 1:pm in the park. The satellite that took this imagery must have somehow momentarily passed through some sort of space-time continuum dealie in order to capture this shot.
It's interesting how people rant & rave about billions of dollars spent on defense projects while mentioning the starving, the less fortunate.
What is psycho roy's and others' preference? To spend $0 on defense and help the starving first?

Ya know that everyone who looks at this imagery is automatically in the government's files... they know about you, where you live, color of your hair, color of eyes, height, they've got your dental records, library records, school grades, where you work, where you shop, they know the name and color of your cat or dog, drivers license number and license plate number, relatives dead and living, yup, just for looking at this, they got you, man, if you peak out your window right now don't be...

By looking at the topo maps, road maps, & Satellite images all (sort of) at the same time, you get a much greater view of what's there... not a complete view but more info is filled in that otherwise you...

The Brentwood, Calif., lot where O.J. Simpson's mansion once stood has been sold for $12.9 million, it was reported Sunday.
Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were stabbed to death at her nearby town house in 1994 and Simpson was forced to sell his property after their families were awarded $33.5 million in a wrongful death suit against him.
The property was bought by investment banker Kenneth Abdalla for about $4...
I read $262 for just the stadium alone and that's why I posted that. For the whole shebang including the design of stadium, infrastructure, purchasing the property plus whatever, whatever, and more whatever, $700 million seems about right. Oh, but wait, just $700 million? Surely all together if that's what's estimated then it'll end up being more.
And on top of all that it'll probably have some silly stupid idiotic name like Eventually To Be Bought By Someone Else Then We'll...
I'm just wondering - is the Scotia Plate considered part of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands?
If you wanted to go explore the plate in some kind of submersible, would you need permission from Tony Blair or is the plate truly in international waters where one can freely go and do as they please?
This airport was formerly the Ramey Air Force Base.
The current Rafael Hernández Airport began life as nearly 4,000 acres of sugar cane when it was purchased the first week of September 1939. By mid-October construction had begun on an airstrip to be called Borinquen Field. Throughout World War II, large guns were placed around the base to guard against any enemy ships and constant construction continued to further upgrade the base. In January of 1948 Borinquen was...

A little investigative work can be fun (unless maybe it's for a part of France without much information and all you're lookin' for is the name of a local municipal stadium... and you don't read francais très bien.)
Wasn't very easy finding out the formerly named Giant Ping Pong Ball was the Temple Bethel... but a site like that in Hampton, VA on the corner of Hunt Club and Todds... much, much easier than the Stade Municipal du Penmarc'h.

I (very highly) suspect this site does not lie within any town or city limits. None. So then what? The City should just be left blank, shouldn't it?
(Just because maps often list places and those listings look like they label a city or town, they often do not.)
