Description:American Airlines Flight 587, an Airbus 300-600 bound for the Dominican Republic, crashed into the Belle Harbor neighborhood of Queens, New York City shortly after takeoff from John F. Kennedy International Airport on November 12, 2001. All 260 people on board and 5 on the ground were killed.
It was the second deadliest US aviation accident to date.
