Before there was a KC-135, there was the KC-97, the first tanker that could do inflight refueling and carry heavy cargo. This plane was flown by the 128th Air Refueling Group, Wisconsin Air National Guard in Milwaukee and retired in 1972 when the unit converted to the KC-135 which it flies today.
