Circus Maximus

Circus Maximus was an ancient Roman stadium used for chariot racing near Forum Romanum and the Colosseum. It was the first and largest stadium to be built in Rome and the later empire. It had a length of 621 m, width of 118 m and could hold 150.000 spectators.

Today the circus is a public park and open to the public. There is however a closed off area where the remains of the buildings from the circus stand and is not open to the public, but can be viewed from the road.
