Dune Movement From Hurricane Katrina

Dune Movement From Hurricane Katrina (Birds Eye)
Hurricane Ivan hit Navarre Beach dead-on, and it still looks bad — second floors missing from stilt houses, smashed cars half-buried in sand dunes, stop signs twisted by wind, and the island's only hotel, the Holiday Inn, still closed and not expected to open for another year or more. Gulf Island National Seashore, which covers 2 miles of beach on the east end of the island, is still closed. But life goes on, and on a recent weekday the beach had 50 or so sunbathers and the parking lot had dozens of cars and RVs. Coco Dries restaurant and Sailors Grill and Bakery are open but customers are mostly construction workers.
