Entrance to Yamamoto's bunker

This is where Admiral Yamamoto, the architect of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, lived his final days. He was shot down and killed 18 April 1943 by a United States P-38 Lightning over south Bougainville after taking off from here on an inspection tour.
