Lewes War Memorial

Lewes War Memorial (StreetView)
Lewes War Memorial stands in the centre of the road at the junction of High Street and Market Street in the East Sussex town of Lewes. Believed to be the finest war memorial in England, it was designed by a little known artist called Vernon March who designed other fine war memorials in Canada and South Africa.

This memorial was unveiled in 1922 and has inscribed the names of 251 men of Lewes that died in the Great War. The memorial was updated after the Second World War when a further 127 names were added.
