Marine Parade was renamed to OR Tambo Parade

Many of the major streets in Durban have been renamed to honor heroes of the liberation struggle.

Marine Parade is renamed after Oliver Tambo - founder member of the ANC Youth League.

Oliver Reginald Tambo (27 October 1917 – 24 April 1993) was a South African anti-apartheid politician and a central figure in the African National Congress (ANC).

Johannesburg International Airport was also named after OR Tambo in 2006.
